Canon imageRunner C3170U ghosting

I have a Canon imageRunner C3170U that is printing an offset ghost of the previous page. E.g., the ghost of page 7 will appear on page 8. It happens worse on long documents. With other copiers, I've read about cleaning the transfer wire on the drum, but I can't find any service information for this printer/copier. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Also, the ghosting occurs whether or not you're using the duplexer, if that matters.

Stop the copier when a paper is on the paper transport section BEFORE the fuser. this will rule out the fuser unit as the culprit. otherwise you will be looking at a transfer problem or lastly a drum unit.

Stop by pressing the stop button, or some other way? Will the stop button shut off the fuser immediately?
