 | dell 3010cn laser not printing at extreme right by judmarzola (1/8/08 7:21 AM) reply | + / - | My dell 3010cn colour laser printer, new, which worked fine, now won't print the extreme right hand side of the page - colour fades out. Replaced cyan and yellow cartridges almost immediately with generic, not dell, cartridges, not sure if problem started at same time. Black and magenta cartridges not yet replaced, but no colour prints at right.
Have taken all cartridges out and put back, no luck.
Have checked margins, all ok, printer settings all seem fine, as they were originally.
what now?

I have both original and remanufactured cartridges in the machine. I have checked the belt and the image on the belt is missing the image as well. The printer prints a very small black and all three colors in a series of small dots on the very right of the page, but other than that there is no image on the paper. I have checked the carasel and it doesn't seem to be crooked. I have also checked the laser and cleaned the lens and nothing changed. I only have 2000 pages on the printer. My guess is that the imaging unit isn't working right.

| Re: dell 3010cn laser not printing at extreme right by lost_n_space (11/20/08 12:48 PM) reply | + / - | had this same problem, was on with Dell tech for over an hour. went through a bunch of diags. tested each cartr. found out it was in fact the carousel.not sure how he came to that conclusion but when testing black it only printer on left side of page... duh, that is what i said in the first place.... luckily it was under warranty, they replaced it with a reconditioned printer.
have always had HP printer but this school dist. loves dell products... oh lucky me!

It was toner leaking out of the cartridges on to the plate bit (not correct technical term!). As the carousel moves round toner leaks and obscures part of the plate. I followed instructions as they say in the manual to do after replacing black cartridge - the little toggle thing at the side, pull it in and out for about 15 times, clears all the toner off and it now prints fine.
