Hi

I tried but the steps did not work for Canon Pixma MP180. Do you have a updated reset step for MP180 using the PG40 ?

This is the procedure to reset PG40. I tried it on my MP180 and it worked.

1) First power off the printer. Next, while holding STOP/RESET button, power on the printer.

2) While holding POWER button, release STOP/RESET button. Then push STOP/RESET button twice.

3) Wait about 20-30 second until the LED shows "0". The push STOP/RESET button four times.

4) Finally push POWER button twice. Last step is to turn off the printer by pressing the POWER button one last time.

Try this

Hold down STOP/RESET button then Press and Hold down Power button
Keep Power button down and Release STOP/RESET button
Push STOP/RESET button twice
Wait 20-30 seconds - our LED showed Idle
Push STOP/RESET button four times

Next time the printer is started the waste count will have been reset

Above method is to reset the waste ink pad full. Not the ink cartrige resetting procedure.

Does anyone knows how to reset ink cartrige??

Will this work with a Canon PIXMA iP 1600 or a PIMAM iP1800?

I have had good luck refilling my Canon iP1800 40 & 41 ink cartridges.
I have not been able to reset the Ink Counter....but I have a "work around" that is quite satisfactory.
I can tell when I am low on ink so the counter is really unnecessary.
After refilling the cartridges and cleaning the bottom where the ink is dispensed I replace the cartridges and hold down the "reset" button for approx. 10 seconds. The reset button being the lower of the two buttons.
Occasionally I find that the black ink (even when I know it is full) will not print. I remove the unit and clean the bottom again. That seems to fix the problem.
I don't mind fussing with these cartridges since I save so much money doing my own refills.
Hope this is helpful to you.

Ho una stampante Canon Pixma IP 1700, mi dà errore e mi dice che il serbatoio dell'inchiostro di recupero è pieno e lampeggia continuamente il led reset.
Qualcuno può spiegarmi come fare a resettare il counter ink waste?

Re: Re: tuto reset CANON PG40 PG41 ink counter cartrige by Anonymous (12/8/08 12:06 AM) reply + / -
Questa procedura vale per la 1600,prova anche sulla tua.
1. Togli il cavo d'alimentazione.
2. Tenendo premuto il tasto ON inserisci il cavo d'alimentazione.
3 Sempre tenendo premuto il pulsante ON premi 2 volte il
tasto presa carta.
4.rilascia tutto.

canon printer cartridges after refilling just shows low ink level on the monitor. You can still print eventhough the ink level is low. if the printer message error says " The following ink cartridge has run out" Black PG40 (for example the black cartridge) and the button lights (orange color lights, called resume buton) below the power button (green color light, press it for 5 seconds or more (steady pressing)... then release. Now print, dont mind in the ink level, once your cartridge is refill only,,, it will always says. low ink but you can print.

waste tank absorber would work using the manual resetting or using resetter software...
