Sensor Problem

Re: Epson Aculaser c8600 service error by Denny Conway (3/8/05 3:48 PM) reply + / -
simo63: I'm sorry, but I am not trained on, or even framiliar with your Epson AcuLaser Color 8600 Laser Printer. I can tell you that a Engine Service Error Code #E526, stands for a "SOILED ADC SENSOR". ADC stands for "Automatic Density Control" [sensor]. Hopefully, you will have your printers "User's Manual/Owner's Manual" and it will show you exactly where that ADC Sensor is located, because I do not know. I think its a removable board, that probably slides in and out, somewhere near the upper right section on the inside of the front of the printer. If you use the round knob [on the inside of the printer, near the center] as the center of a clock, then I would guess that the sensor board assembly would be around the one-o-clock to the two-o-clock position, but really don't know for sure...Basically if there are any parts of wrong specifications used, improper mounting, damage, distortion, dirt, or adherence of any foreign material, that can cause that particular error code. Hopefully the ADC Sensor is just dirty and needs cleaned. The major parts that need to be checked, are the "ADC Sensor Assembly", the "Main Harness Assembly" and the "MCU Printed Circuit Board". Not much else I can tell you, other than to clean or replace the relevant part. I'm sorry, but thats all I can really tell you...Good Luck! Denny Conway

Re: Epson Aculaser c8600 service error by Anonymous (12/20/05 8:08 AM) reply + / -
E520 is a problem with the 2nd btr cam assy. This is usually solved by replacing either the 2nd btr assy or the 2nd btr cam clutch.

E532 can be caused by many different parts of the printer mechanism. Best to get a tech to look at it for you if you can.

Re: Epson Aculaser c8600 service error by Soozie (4/18/06 7:03 AM) reply + / -
E532 error means there's a drain on one of the several motors within the printer. Reseat all the consumables within printer (especially the waste toner)and the paper tray the error clears. If the error doesn't clear then you have a real hardware fault and the job of changing each motor until you get the right one. This particular printer has a problem with waste toner. The toner seems to clog up and be the main cause of this error - you may find this occurs after the printer has been sat idle for sometime i.e. after a weekend. Once this particular printer starts giving this message its best to run through this routine each morning... open the front cover, unlock the two lockovers, pull out the consuambles about half way and then slam them back in - hard enough to loosen the toner but not hard enough to break the printer. Switch it on and it should remain error free all day.

I have a service req D1100 I cant find what it is can anyone help
thanks

Re: Epson Aculaser c8600 service error by Anonymous (6/10/06 3:30 PM) reply + / -
There is not a D1100, so probably a C1100, which is 'ROM checksum error'. The mainboard has probably failed and would need to be replaced.

Re: Epson Aculaser c8600 service error by Paul-UK (8/24/06 10:56 AM) reply + / -
E546 is duplex unit motor error. remove and reinstall the duplex, if that does not work, the duplex would probably have to be replaced.

Hi i work for a printing business but we cant print because the printer would rather tell us these messages:

Service Required:
C0305
C0304
D1020-
C0302
D0305-
C0303

If anyone knows what these mean and can help me and the business get back to work, i would be very thankful.

I look forward to the replies.

Re: Epson Aculaser c8600 service error by Paul-UK (10/6/06 3:55 AM) reply + / -
They are all mainboard related errors. Looks like you will have to have the mainboard replaced in order to get it working again.

E547 - Optional Cassette Unit Feeder Motor Error.
Refer to the instruction manual for the relevant optional unit.

The P/R Motor is the largest of the removable units. It is fastened with 6 black screws (black, with collar, 12mm long). You need to remove the transfer high assembly also (accessible from front of machine) before removing this.

E511 error on my C1100n
My new printer had this. To fix it I pulled out the photoconductor on the top and gently wiped off the toner on the roller (this may not have been the problem) but then after replacing it I turned on the printer while holding down the dustbin button for quite a while. When I released it everything was normal!

I have found out that the problems I have experienced with my 8600 are down to the fact that I was sold the machine as a business card printer able to run 300gms card. It did for about 6 months great I tought I got loads of business doing short runs. Then after about 6 month it made I got the error message E32 at this time it was under a maintance contract and they duly came out and fixed it. How ever it turned out th fix only lasted abot 10-12 weeks and again the same error message came up. to cut along story short they fixed my printer appprox 6-8 time also the printer that was returned to me was not my original one twice I drove from Liverpool to they premises to have my printer fixed. Then one day out of the blue I recived a letter telling me to cancel my direct debit for the maintance contract as they where no longer supplying and maintaining the 8600. I contacted Epson direct to try and get the printer fixed and a new maintance contract. One of the first questions thy asked me was what weight was I running through the printer I had been using a 280gsm coated card. Straight away they said that they would not touch it as I have exceeded that manufacturers specification weight which was 260gsm. I know have a printer that dose not work and I cannot get repaired. I have 2 more years on my lease at £243.00 per month. The lease company are not interested in my problems they just want the money. On talking to some engineers it turns out because I have been putting card hevery than the manufacturers spect it puts a strain on the PR motor and other parts so every time it is fixed it is only a matter of time before it fails again does anybody have any advice for me. I now feel that I was misled and the printer was not relly up to the job that they sold it to me for. At the moment I am looking a paying over £2,000 for the nxt 2 yeras for a broken printer. Please Please help me

Had the same problem, bought the machine to do short run business card jobs but ended up like you.

Nevertheless someone recomended a Chinese engineer who seem to be a specialist in these printers and fixed the problem. initally Epson was charging me £360 callout + labour but i ended up paying the Chinese guy £70.

He speaks little english but knows his stuff.

More info on E511 error message. After talking to Epson. This is a photoconductor error and in my case was due to the black rubber conveyor belt inside the photoconductor moving over to the right too much. (Can be seen on top where 4 arrows are pointing to it - should be central on the rollers). If the photoconductor unit (a consumable) is under 3 months old they will replace it otherwise you will have to try to push the conveyor belt along to the left while turning the rollers - hard work and it may just go back to the wrong position again when put into the printer - due to crooked rollers - Epson manufacturing fault. You can also unscrew the panel covering the conveyor belt to make it more accessible. Turn the unit upside down. Have the blue roller away from you. The large black cover runs from you to the blue roller. First at the end nearest to you on each side you will see a knob. Pull these towards you to release your end. Raise A LITTLE and you will see where it pivots near the blue roller. The two indented screws either side need to be unscrewed and the whole cover will come off. Pull the rubber over as much as you can to the centre while running it over the rollers. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Having already replaced one photoconductor unit for my Epson C1100 which is less than 2 years old, I decided to look online for information regarding Error code E511.

Thank you so much for the information you gave regarding this, since having followed your instructions to the letter I have sucessfully saved myself a further £160 roughly for 10 minutes work. I just feel rather stupid and annoyed having replaced, what was probably a totally useful photoconductor last time.

This must surely be a known of manufacturing error by Epson for this unit and feel extremely disappointed not to mention thoroughly ripped off, that the technical guy I spoke to at Epson didn't tell me how to fix it. So much for their customer service! Anyway thanks once again.

Epson Service told me that a sensor or a reflector may be dirty from toner. Remove photoconductor. The sensor is below the photoconductor on the left front of the C1100 printer. Clean with cloth. The reflector is on the rubber transport band on the underside of the photoconductor. With thumbs turn the blue roller at the rubber edges until reflector appears on the transport band. Clean with cloth. Good luck! Didn't work for me - still get E511.

Re: Epson Service Req 511 by Matb (9/29/08 5:51 AM) reply + / -
This is what Epson sent me on this error:

This error E511 is unusual, however I have experienced it before. It is caused by the Transfer belt within the Photoconductor unit not being detected.

I would advise removing the Photoconductor Unit (PCU) and cleaning the metal bar within the printer from where you remove the PCU.

Then, if you look on the under side of the PCU, on one side you should see a gap into the unit, next to which should be two small gray pieces of foam. If you now rotate the blue roller, please avoid touching the centre of the roller. As you turn it, keep an eye on the hole by the foam pieces, looking out for a small metal square to come into view. Please clean this also.

Finally, looking at the PCU top down. There are a row of arrows. Please hold this unit so the arrows face you. You should be able to see a wide section of the belt exposed. This belt should be central to the rollers. You should be able to move this belt across to the centre if it is not already.
I would hope after reseating the PCU and cycling the power on the printer this would clear the error.

This is fix your own printer. If I wanted to pay you, I might as well get a proper Epson engineer on the case.

In any case, Epson does free livechat support, so no one needs your services.

Re: Epson Aculaser c1100 service error E511 by scotc (10/24/08 10:23 AM) reply + / -
I note on this post we are speaking about several different printers. I respond to posts about the C1100.
The E511 service error on boot up is due to the small silver square on the transfer belt not being seen by the sensor.
Open the printer's top, remove the Photo Conductor Unit (PCU). The sensor is on the left hand side of the printer innards and is a little glassy black oblong. Clean it of toner.
The problem is MORE likely to be the silver square on the belt.
Rotate the belt till you see the square.
NOW HERE'S THE EXPERT FIX. You can REPLACE this square if it has worn out.

Cut a square of tinfoil, glue it on, preferably stretched over the rollers so that the square cannot be any tighter than this as it goes around.
The new square does NOT need to be on top of the old, you can place it further around the belt.

Epson should be flamed for this PCU device which is a beartrap. It's not fit for purpose and wears out BEFORE the advertised number of pages. Vote with your wallet.
